Review of the Epson Stylus NX430 All-in-One Printer

The Epson NX430 is one of the few, truly compact, all-in-one printer, scanner, and copiers you’ll find on the market. It includes a myriad of useful features, functions, and connectivity options that you don’t usually find with the more compact models. There’s no option for ethernet networking, but that’s about the only con for this excellent, all-in-one printer.

Epson has managed to raise the bar even higher by finding a way to wrap a printer, scanner, and copier into an extremely small device. It’s labeled the Epson Stylus NX430, but it should probably be named the Epson ‘Stylish’ instead because that’s exactly what it is. It doesn’t have the high printing capacity required to make it in a medium or large office, but it’s perfect around the home or in your small office.

Design.

To put it into perspective, the Stylus has similar dimension to a modern Blu-Ray player, excluding the height. That makes it easily one of the smallest all-in-one printers available on the market. However, unlike other compact models, it doesn’t sacrifice any of the functionality you’d expect to find with a high-end printer.

In total, the Styles is around 15″ wide and 11″ tall. It’s smaller than most compact single function printer. It’s not only about the size though. It weighs only nine pounds, which makes it also one of the lightest all-in-one printers you’ll ever find.

On the front is the main control panel. The panel is rotated at a slight angle to make viewing easier from above. There are plenty of function buttons visible, but only the usable functions are illuminated at any given time. This removes the feeling of clutter and confusion from the console.

The control panel also features a memory card slot that allows you to instantly print pictures from any SD card. You can print directly from the machine without the need to touch a computer at all. All of your photos can be previewed on the 3 inch LCD screen located on the control panel.

Features.

This compact printer doesn’t hold back when it comes to features. In terms of connectivity, you can connect via USB or through your home Wi-Fi network. Wi-Fi connectivity allows all nearby machines to connect instantly via WPS to print their required documents.

Smart Install and Set-Up makes installing the machine on new computers easy. It takes less than 2 minutes to install the software and begin printing your document. Auto-updates do all of the work in the future without any required input. However, you can disable auto updates if you would like to manage them yourself.

You can also print directly from an iOS device or an Android device, such as a smart phone or tablet. Applications are available for all operating systems. You can send documents and print commands directly to the printer through the app without touching the computers.

Epson also provides you with access to photo editing software. Their programs are easy to understand and use, even if you don’t have experience with any other photo editing programs.

Epson Workforce 845: The Printer You Need in Your Office

Epson works hard to compete with other big-name printer manufacturers, such as HP and Brother. As a company with a lot to prove, they tend to include all of the latest and greatest technological advancements in their printers. Even their affordable models come packed with enough functionality to put them on even ground with the best of HP or Brother.

The Epson WorkForce 845 is the latest all-in-one printer released by Epson. It’s intended use is for small to large offices that are in need of multi-function devices to get through the workday. However, if you just want a phenomenal printer at your home that can handle a huge workload, then this is still a great choice.

When they say ‘multi-function’ they really mean a lot of functions. As you would expect, it includes print, scan, and copy functions, but that’s only the tip of the iceberg. It also includes three connectivity options, meaning you can connect to your Epson 845 however you see fit, whether ethernet, USB, or Wi-Fi.

It also includes a lot of new Epson features found in the Epson Connect Portfolio. These functions work together to print directly from Apple and Google’s cloud printing services. You can also print directly from any iOS or Android device. Finally, you can email pages to print directly to the printer and they’ll be printed on demand.

Design.

The WorkForce 845 is not a compact models. However, considering all of its features, capabilities, and functionality, it’s surprising they were able to fit in as small of a model as they did. Dimensions are around 18in x 15in x 12in. It weighs about 22 pounds with a full ink cartridge and connected tray. That makes it easy to move around the office when needed, though you shouldn’t need to do that much thanks to all of their connectivity options.

A 12 inch control panel includes an 8 inch touch screen and 4 inch color LCD. This makes it extremely easy to navigate through all of the different printing options without any need for the computer.

The menu includes all of the options you need to easily navigate forward, back, and return to home. Buttons that aren’t of use in the current menu are blacked out to prevent confusion.

The control panel also includes two slots for media cards and a USB port that is compatible with PictBridge. This is used for directly printing from your digital camera.

Features.

When it comes to features, the 845 really doesn’t hold anything back. Their Easy Photo Print software makes it easy to edit and print images from any media source. You’ll also have access to special Epson applications, such as their scanner app and CreativeZone app. These are useful for managing photo albums and creating unique prints, such as cards or envelopes.

End Result.

This isn’t the cheapest or smallest printer on the market. If you only have need for a few prints here and there, then you can probably find a more affordable model. However, if you need a multi-function device capable of handling a heavy workload, then the Epson WorkForce 845 is perfect for you.

Reviewing the HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Printer

The HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 is the next upgrade up from the Pro 8500, which was a phenomenal printer in its own right. The 8600 takes all of the great features of the 8500, such as multi-function capability and high print speeds and then just improves on the model further. The 8600 is a great printer and worth the money if you’re considering an upgrade from the 8500.

However, don’t think that the 8600 is just the 8500 with some new features. HP has gone inside and improved the entire machine from the bottom to the top. It’s received an extreme makeover in terms of performance. Despite the 8500’s high print speeds, the 8600 easily puts it to shame.

New Features.

To begin with, the 8600 has a small, 2.6 inch color touch screen. This makes it easy to access and manipulate print functions without touching your computer. They’ve made the decision to relocate the control panel to the side of the printer. This allows for a sleeker all-around appearance.

The glossy paint job of the previous model has been removed and replaced with a more stylish black matte color, which works great and looks great in any room or office. The professional appearance makes it the perfect printing workhorse for any small office or business.

It’s also extremely compact. It’s only around 12 inches tall and 19 inches wide, which is fairly small compared to other high-end, multi-function printers sold today. The normal model is even smaller than the 8600 Plus and the 8600 Premium, which are more expensive variations of the same model.

All models share some of the same features though. For example, each printer has identical handles on the side. This makes it easy to life and transport the printer at a moment’s notice. Albeit, you shouldn’t really need to ever move them thanks to its wi-fi capabilities.

The OfficeJet Pro 8600 is capable of handling a pretty heavy workload. It has a paper capacity of 250 sheets, which is more than enough to handle even the biggest printing jobs. The input tray comes about 4 inches out of the front of the printer.

There’s also a 50 sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) located directly on top of the printer. However, there is no manual feed tray. This makes it hard, if not impossible, to regularly print on irregular paper sizes, such as envelopes.

If the 250 sheets isn’t enough, then you can take a step up to the premium model. The Pro 8600 Premium model features an additional 250 sheet input tray, making it a total of 500 pages you can print at any time. It also includes an additional ink cartridge and a package of premium glossy paper. A pretty good deal if you need more printing capacity.

Final Thoughts.

If 250 sheets is enough, then the Pro 8600 is just what you need for your home or small office printing needs. If it’s for business needs and 250 just isn’t enough, then the upgrade to the Premium model will suit you nicely.
